What is the difference between Made to Order, Custom, and Up-cycle?

Made to Order
Made to Order pieces are made when you place that order! You select a setting or finished piece that has already been designed. If a center stone is needed, you select your stone and check out! If you select an item that does not need a main stone, then your work is complete. Your item will be coming in hot right off the bench.

Custom
Custom is if you want something more detailed that you cannot find elsewhere. We work on a design with you and offer you a selection of stones that will fit your style and budget.

Up-cycle
This is if you have old jewelry that is not your style but you do not know what to do with it. Simply fill out the form and we work with you to create a one of a kind piece with stones from your heirloom jewelry. If extra stones are needed for your custom piece, we source those as well from our few vendors we work closely with.

*Currently only taking up-cycle jobs from Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and surrounding areas. We limit this because we need to see the stones wanting to be used in person to make sure they are good candidate for this process.

Can my ring be resized?

If you have a ring that was purchased from Sababa Goldsmiths within 3 months, we do offer complimentary sizing. If you live outside of the Austin, Texas area email us at sababagoldsmith@gmail.com with your name, order number, shipping information, and size needed. We will then create a shipping label for you to print. Also include with your ring this form filled out with your sizing details. Any resizing past the 3 month purchase date with have a labor and material charge that the customer will notified about before any work is done.

Do you offer gift wrapping?

All items are shipped in our custom white eco friendly box with our at home care card. Then it is wrapped in tissue paper and all tied up with velvet ribbon.

Can you recreate a ring I saw somewhere?

We will not copy another designers peice. If you find a piece that you love elsewhere, we suggest you support that artist.

What shipping do you offer?

We ship orders Mondays and Wednesdays using UPS 2 day shipping with a signature required at delivery.

Is your studio open to the public?

Due to Covid, our studio is not open to the public. If you are in the Austin, Texas area email us to arrange local pick up and drop off.

How long does it take for a made to order purchase to be completed?

3-4 weeks.
Email us if you need by a certain date and we will do our best to accommodate.

When will my made to order piece be completed and ship out?

Orders are processed in 3 business days. Please allow 3-4 weeks for production. Once your item is ready to ship you will receive a shipping confirmation via email with a tracking number. We ship orders on Mondays and Wednesdays. If you need an item by a certain date, email us at the time of purchase at sababagoldsmiths@gmail.com with the date needed and we will work with you to make that possible.

How often do I get updated on progress?

If you are selecting a center stone for your MtO piece, you can receive photo updates through
the entire creation process or wait to see everything when it is completed. That option will
asked and noted after you have selected your main stone.

Custom & Up-cycling

How long does it take for a custom purchase to be completed?

6-8 weeks from date of deposit.
Contact us if you need by a certain date and we will do our best to accommodate.

When do I get to see a design? Do I have to pay first?

Please allow 48 hours for us to reply to your custom inquiry. We will then start communication and take the next steps for creating your one of a kind piece proposal.

Each proposal will include stones being sourced and the first round of sketches. Once final design is agreed upon you will pay the 50% non-refundable deposit and are given two more rounds of custom sketches to get your custom creation perfect.

How often will I be updated on progress?

While your piece is being made, you will receive photos of it in wax and be allowed to make minor tweaks to it before it is cast. Once your piece is completed you will be emailed final pictures and an invoice to pay any remaining balance and shipping cost.

Jewelry Care

Can I work out with my jewelry?

Our jewelry hates the gym. The impact of the piece hitting weights and barbells can dent the gold, crack stones, and damage prongs.

Can I swim with my jewelry?

It cannot swim. The chlorine and salt in pools is corrosive to gold and many stones. It’s best to enjoy that sparkle keeping it dry poolside.

Can I wear my jewelry in the shower?

It deserves its own bath time. We do not recommend you shower or bath in our jewelry. Various products can be corrosive, or cause build up in your setting.

How should I clean my jewelry?

For at home cleaning, we recommend soaking your jewelry in some warm water with a few drops of mild dish soap for no more than an hour. The soap will break up any oil or dirt that has taken away the stone’s sparkle. Next, very gently scrub with a baby toothbrush and rinse. Finally, pat dry with a lint free cloth to rid of any water spots and to give your piece a light polish.

Guarantees & Repairs

Can I return my made-to-order or custom piece?

Custom and Made-to-Order pieces may not be returned or exchanged. Any item that has been created as a one of a kind and is not a stock Sababa Goldsmiths piece is considered a final sale.

Do you offer any warranties for repairs?

We offer a 30 day guarantee on items purchased through our website with proof of purchase (receipt or order number). All jewelry purchased within the past 30 days is eligible for complimentary repair for any breakage caused by manufacturer defect; however, you will be responsible for round trip shipping costs. All repairs are subject to evaluation. Sababa Goldsmiths reserves the right to charge fees for repairs using our professional discretion.

Are you able to repair older styles?

Most likely, yes. If your item is needing repair work on the metal portion, absolutely. If you have a cracked or missing stone, we will need some details. Please note that most larger stones used are one of a kind. We will do our best to replace with as close as possible to what has been damaged.

How long will it take to get a quote for a repair?

Once we have received your item(s), we will contact you in 2-3 business with an accurate estimate (if a charge is needed) and repair timeframe. For any size, color, stone or metal changes, fees will apply. Depending on the complexity of the repair typical timeframe is 1-3 weeks.
